Tourniquets are devices that help control bleeding by squeezing the limb or extremity where the bleeding is happening. They’re mostly used in emergencies when someone is bleeding really bad and needs immediate medical help.
However, they’re also used when you need to draw blood for medical tests or donation. This is done when a tourniquet is tied around your upper arm, it stops the blood flow to that area temporarily, which makes it easier for medical staff to locate a vein and draw blood.
But remember! You should only use a tourniquet when it’s absolutely necessary, as they can cause damage to your limbs if used for too long.
